…but the movie stinks! I don’t care about the Golden Globe, the Academy nominations or the normally good indications given at imdb, Babel is a very poor film. A story of unimaginable simplicity is unravelled in three threads each of which are told at various points in time and in three separate locations. After three hours of agony, like you were having a eight inch wound sewn up with these threads and no anesthetic by a man with no fingers, they are eventually tied together in their bland glory.

Special mention must also go to the string plucking musician who was tasked with filling the endless silences and snail-paced camera work with some sort of soundtrack. I don’t know if he was playing harp/lute/sitar or some variation thereof, but whatever it was I’d like to strangle him with it. About the only consolation of the entire film was realising that Brad Pitt is getting old…

Just read your review… you HATED it! Interesting. I had thought it would be good. But then, I don’t suppose you feel the same way as I do about Brad Pitt or Gael Garcia Bernal
I still want to see it - you know how I try to keep up w/ the Oscar films!
Oh - I agree - it was terrible!
