Manijeh’s dad’s cousin or more simply considered as her uncle, Hasan, reached the rather impressive milestone of 80 years on planet earth this past weekend. Such a momentous occasion it would turn out also saw the coming together of a sizeable contingent of the Afnan family. The great thing about this is that they come from all corners of the UK and even all different shapes, sizes and colours. They include blonde Scotsman, blue-eyed Brummies, Geordie firemen and even the odd New Zealander to boot. It was a lovely occasion and many thanks must be given to Hasan’s son Farid whose home played host and whose wife Mercedes put on a spread not to forget even if she did order it from a Persian caterer. I mean credit where credit is due after all, she chose Persian, that’s the most important thing!
